HSOC raised €11,300 for a Great Cause
HSOC took part in the annual Ring of Kerry cycle last Saturday, July 4th.
Team HSOC took to the high seas from Valentia to commence the 180km cycle returning many hours later, tired but with a great sense of achievement having shared a wonderful day on the roads of Kerry.
Team HSOC succeeded in raising €11,300 for Valentia Hospital. A special thank you to all who sponsored this worthy Charity.
About Valentia Hospital
The Hospital first opened its doors back in 1870, since then it has provided 143 years of unbroken service and care not only to the people of Valentia Island but to the people of the greater Iveragh area. Valentia Hospital has become a vital part of our life and landscape here in the wider South Kerry area. Until the building of the bridge connecting the Island to mainland Kerry in 1970, a full range of medical and surgical services were provided. The Hospital has today continued to adapt and meet the changing needs and demands of our Community providing long stay care for up to 20 patients and day care facilities for the elderly in our area. It is our vision that the Hospital remain in Valentia, which necessitates us to expand and enhance this facility to secure it for the years to come.
